Useful Tips Ag. Ioannis (Donna's wedding church). Getting there is a half hour winding drive from Glossa. There is no public transportation, one will need to hire a car or book a round trip taxi at approximately. The cost of a taxi is equal to the car hire for one day ;o) Climbing up the steps is quite an ordeal and not a task for the elderly or those with health problems. The location is breathtaking; however, the church itself is not unlike the numerous little churches found throughout the island. The production spiced it up a bit by filming most of the wedding scenes in a studio. As a result, the church appears larger, the alter has been repositioned and the decor is more elaborate than in real life Just before the steep climb, there is a canteen offering refreshments and iced coffee but little else. There is a lovely small beach nearby should you wish to have a cooling swim after the climb.. Tip: Wear flat non slip shoes and don’t forget your camera. If you are planning to spend the day, pack your bathing suit and a light lunch. Kastani Beach (Donna's beach bar and jetty) Do not go there expecting to find a jetty or a beach bar ; these were built solely for the filming and promptly removed afterwards. The winding dirt road leading off the main road to the beach is a bit rough so do not attempt the descent unless you have a 4X4 wheel drive. Tip: Pack your own umbrella, water and snack and enjoy a day in one of the last unexploited natural beaches in Greece. Glysteri (arched stone entrance to Donna's house)& Amarantus (boat scene) These locations offer incredible natural beauty but they are rather hard to visit. Do not expect to discover findings from the actual filming - the production company was very conscientious and removed all props meticulously leaving behind only the original natural setting.
